Community Service
- Into the Streets
Every Spring, SUNY Oneonta holds a day of service where all the clubs and organizations are placed at a site to help
volunteer their time for a day. In Spring of 2011, I went to Gilbert Lake State Park where we cleaned up the park and in
2012, I went to the Cooperstown Farmer's Market to clean and paint to get ready for the Farmer's market. In
Spring of 2013, I went to the Susquehanna SPCA. We helped clean the kennels and animal cages.
- Flood Relief
2012, volunteers were still needed to help clean up after the devastation. I went with the Human Ecology Club
to help restore a damaged house that flooded during the storm.
- Nursing Home visits (Chestnut Park and Rehabilitation Center and Hampshire House)
jeopardy game and painted flowerpots at the Hampshire House. The residents seem to really enjoy our company.
- Toys for Tots - December 2011
much on Christmas through the Family Services Association. We picked out gifts for them for $100 each then wrapped all
their gifts.
- Habitat for Humanity
Humanity, I have not only learned valuable skills to work on my home one day, but how powerful a group of people can create
change and help so many others. It is truly inspiring.
- Hearts of Hope
and make/organize hearts. Hearts of Hope "is a group of nation wide volunteers organized to create and distribute beautiful
keepsake hearts, with message of hope, to people everywhere." We made hearts for the people affected by the Newton,
Connecticut tragedy and for soldiers.
